New York Marriage Equality Celebrations

Jester of the Peace ready to marry couples
in spirit (until 30 days pass!) at the NYC Pride March 2011

Late in the night on June 24, 2011, New York became the 6th State to legalize same-sex marriage. Walking around town that night, I felt this increased peace alongside the enthusiasm in the air. We walked with so many others to gather outside the Stonewall Inn, where the gay rights movement in the US essentially began in 1971. New York is a more peaceful, kinder, and more fun City now. I am happy. And happy for the many same-sex marriages to be performed this year.

In 2004, when same-sex marriage passed in Massachusetts, I was again up half the night waiting as to cheer as friends got their marriage licenses in the middle of the night - Cambridge City Hall opened at 12:01 am that day.

Which state will be the 7th to Let Love Win?
